Our Club Building in Jacob Wells Road, Clifton, Bristol
Japan Arts Centre Judo Club is a member of the British Judo Association, the governing body for Judo in Great Britain. The club formed in 1986 and have been at our current location since 1988.
The centre is also home to Karate and Aikido Clubs, more details of these can be found at
www.japanartscentre.co.uk
We cater for all levels of Judoka, from the age of 5 upwards of all abilities from beginners, recreational players, to National Champions., Visitors are very welcome.
We have close links with Bristol University Judo Club where Chris Hunt also coaches.
The club was the first Judo Club in Bristol to obtain the Sport England and British Judo Association CLUB MARK for good practice.
Our coaching team spans a wide age and level of experience, from Chris 6th Dan who is the Director of Coaching for Great Britain Police, through to young volunteers obtaining coach awards for Duke of Edinburgh Awards. We are fortunate and somewhat unique in that in addition to having many male coaches , we also have 5 qualifed women coaches, we hope this helps encourage more girls and ladies to come and try Judo. Our volunteer coaches undergo continuous professional development by attending coaching courses, first aid courses, child protection courses and other relevant courses.
